12/2012 - Present:  IT Project Manager / Systems Administrator - Northwestern University - Evanston, IL
Project manage various Tier-3 platforms within the DAPS NUIT department.

  • Create, maintain, and update project plans for multiple active projects including communication with vendors and other IT employees within the University.
  • Manage existing encrypted file transfer hub transactions for over 100+ SFTP transfers using PGP, GPG, Expect, Perl, and Shell Scripting.
  • Project liaison for multiple other projects, including migrating Solaris UNIX and Red Hat Enterprise Linux encryption processes over to a new environment.

    Manage datacenter operations for production servers, routers, and switches.

  • Point-man for Comcast Chicago Region’s DTV network migration project, involving implementing Cisco ME3400 (BGP), 3750, and 2950’s.
  • Setup multi-cast communications on Cisco 3750 layer-3 switches to peer with Cisco 7609 routers.
  • Maintain uptime of clustered Windows 2003 servers and networking equipment for a large scale production environment.
  • Support of network outages by coordinating fixes throughout the Chicago region.

    Responsible for leased line circuits, routing, Windows/Linux servers, storage, and operations.

  • Consulted business customers with server troubleshooting, maintenance, and support of new project efforts.
  • Setup redundant Dell PowerEdge 2850 and 2950 4U rack servers with Red Hat Enterprise Linux v4 running in a heartbeat / failover environment with Apache, PHP and MySQL.
  • Migrated Windows 2000 Advanced Server co-located servers running IIS and SQL Server 2000 to Windows 2003 Enterprise Server.
